Preface

When dealing with Homelessness, a quote attributed to Albert Einstein declares that stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If this looks familiar, it's because we're not solving the problem; we're making it worse.

Burton S Johnson foresaw the solution over eleven years ago:
He saw Utah charter a New Beginnings Foundation to employ those who need a fresh start.
In a training and practice economy, he then saw enrollees take the initiative to help themselves instead of waiting to be helped.
Upon seeing this, those who were more fortunate began helping when necessary.

What astounded him the most was that this set in motion a series of events leading to the millennial peace and prosperity the religions of the book had been waiting for.
Placing a specific time on when this might have begun for the author, in some ways, it started when he was 10. Upon seeing that yards in the city were green and beautiful, he came sick enough of the sage brush around his home on the farm that he tore it out and planted a lawn. Serendipitously, for 70 years, he has been creatively making his front yard beautiful ever since.

Over 40 years ago, he began planning, building, and operating a one-of-a-kind botanical garden where shade-loving perennials are grown, displayed, and sold. At the same time, being beautiful enough to make it, and he is famous. (www.hostahouseutah.com)
It was then that he began to see what he thought must be the future.

Seeing the future is not scientifically accepted, but the dominant theory of time in physics is that we live in a 'block universe' wherein the past, present, and future exist simultaneously — And if what some theoretical physicists believe is true, that everything in the universe is quantum entangled, instantly effecting everything else, what we experience as time is irrelevant, wondering why he was the one seeing it, as opposed to someone more capable, has led him to conclude that his limited ability must be the point and that his role was to reach out to others while attempting to put it in writing -which he is gladly doing to avoid being the center of attention.

One individual with those credentials is the well-known and widely respected author, speaker, and social theorist Arthur C Brooks. After multiple attempts, he finally met him on Friday, September 13th, 2025, and told him he would send him a letter explaining why he’d been attempting to make contact. And since doing so has finally made it possible to get everything in writing, this open letter explains Utah's New Beginnings Foundation to everyone.
